Tswelopele After School Club

About

Tswelopele After School Club is an initiative that is aimed at assisting children of primary school going age (ages 7 to 13) with education outside the classroom. We are based in the township of Katlehong, Germiston in Johannesburg. Our main aim is to keep children off the streets and out of danger and out of trouble during after school hours while at the same time assisting them with homework, reading, computer skills and school projects. During the weekends, we do activities with them such as sports and arts and crafts. Most children in the area do not have access to computers and books (besides school workbooks) and while some parents may be at work during the hours between 2pm and 6pm, some of them don't have an interest either way. We also want to promote computer literacy among the children. Tswelope needs funding for a mini library with desks and chairs and a computer room with at least 4 computers. We also aim to put a lot of focus on reading and instilling a love for reading with the children, also holding monthly or quarterly competitions like read-a-thons and spelling bee's. We believe that keeping these young minds busy and informed during after school hours will uplift the community and give the children a brighter future. Any donation of any amount will be highly appreciated as this is an ongoing initiative and the money will be helpful in so many ways. Thank you
