Rock lovers and die-hard fans of one of the most successful rock bands of all time will soon have the chance to thrill to the sounds of Pink Floyd when Mel Botes, undoubtedly one of the most respected and most talented guitarists and songwriters in S.A., will take centre stage at The Daisy Jones Bar, Summerhill, Stellenbosch on Sunday 6 February 2022. He will be joined on stage by some of Cape Town’s finest musicians.

Mel Botes with his genial talent has been entertaining audiences all over the country for numerous years with his critically acclaimed musical performance, “Crazy Diamond - A Tribute to Pink Floyd”. His brilliance as a guitar player has not limits in “Crazy Diamond” and music lovers are constantly swept off their feet. He has always acknowledged that Pink Floyd had a big influence on his music career, with their influence being evident in both his songwriting and style of playing and this can be seen in Mel Botes’ original works, “David’s Confession” and in “Flight of Bird”. He was in his element when he collaborated with Richard Nosworthy to bring “Crazy Diamond” to the stage. Audiences and critics agreed that he mastered the complexity and density of Floyd in a way that none of his other tribute shows have achieved.
Mel said, “This production has been a big challenge for me and a very valuable learning curve. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to use everything I’ve learned about playing music over 30 years to help me interpret Pink Floyd’s” music.
Over 20 songs will be performed along this scintillating musical journey, including Comfortably Numb, Echoes, Speak to Me, Breathe, Happiest Days of our lives, Another Brick in the Wall, Parts 1,2 and 3, Wish you were here, High Hopes, and many more, all ensuring the audiences will be provided with a never-to-be-forgotten show!
