Dear Readers,
The Ton are abuzz with news of the Cuppa for CANSA High Tea to be held at Magnolia Restaurant, Casterbridge, on Saturday 22nd October.
This author has been reliably informed that many influential gentle ladies shall partake in the occasion, which as always is the event of the season. The theme is Bridgerton and there is much to-ing and fro-ing in town to make the occasion a splendid success.
My sources tell me that tables of 8, named for the most upper of upper-crust gentry, will be themed after their hostess – Queen Charlotte, the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, the Viscount, and Viscountess Bridgerton, the Baron and Baroness Featherington, Lady Danbury. Would anyone dare to be Lady Whistledown? The cost for each table is R2 500 and the hostess should supply a cake which will be auctioned during the tea.
Those who wish to attend célibataire or perhaps with only a friend or two need not despair, gentle reader, as hosts Magnolia Restaurant and CANSA have saved the best table for our most reticent and reclusive lords and ladies. These select individuals will be seated at the Wallflower table, from where they can watch and whisper about the goings-on of the audacious Ton for a fee of R350pp.
I myself shall be in attendance, incognito, of course, with my quill and ink at the ready to report on the event.
