CTL Creative Connections: The probability of separate worlds meeting

ABOUT

The theme of our next CTL Creative Connections event is "The probability of separate worlds meeting", and it is an illustration workshop. 

This is inspired by the quote

“The probability of separate worlds meeting is very small. The lure of it is immense. We send starships. We fall in love.” - Jeanette Winterson

We will combine elements and concepts to help us discover how different worlds can meet. Imagine an ocean inside a teacup, a hot air balloon being carried by a planet, a forest growing out of a book, or a galaxy inside a mason jar. This will be a magically creative event.

This illustration workshop will allow us to use creativity as a medium for connecting with each other.

This workshop is fun, no pressure, and can adapt to all skill levels. Whether you regularly make art, or have no art experience at all, this event is for you. We believe art is for everyone. And the main objective of the event is to connect and create with others. 

This workshop will cover the following:

• A discussion around the theme, and how we can combine objects/places/concepts creatively. 
• The basics of colour theory and how to choose colours that work well together.
• Warm-up exercises will allow us to explore the visual elements that we will use for our illustrations.
• Explore multiple art materials that can be used in your final artwork.
• Sketching and completing your own unique artwork.

Ticket Price Includes:

• Art materials
• A R100 complimentary food/drink voucher to be used during the event. 

This event is organised by Cape Town Lesbians, and is a Queer Women focused event. However, it is family-friendly and open to anyone.
