 $/He Who Feeds You… Owns You is being released on Shabaka Hutchings’ Native Rebel label in October 2022. The road to the album release begins at Romeo's situated in Melville Johannesburg one of the homes of the Brother Moves On. The performance will feature a performance by The Charles Gene Suite followed by a performance by The Brother Moves ft their mentor and close friend Bra Steve Dyer. 

The album title comes from a speech by pan-African revolutionary Thomas Sankara to the Organisation of African Unity. “It takes his words into this time. It has a lot to do with food sovereignty and land – whoever feeds you, whoever owns your food system runs you.”

The songs on $/He Who Feed You… Owns You have been bubbling away for years, the album is described as ‘a time capsule of a moment before the pandemic’ when they were away from home, touring Europe a lot. “All the songs became harder, stronger, thicker. They had to find their source of meaning because we were chanting them into spaces of people who got the energy but may not have got the words.”

On the 19th of August 2022 "Bayakhala" the first single goes live. The song features Spaza multi-instrumentalist Malcolm Jiyane who along with Mthunzi Mvubu were pivotal in the arrangement of the song. Bayakhala’ follows and draws from deep histories, old forgotten languages and the idea of ‘keepers of the land’ communicating a calling to higher selfhood from the other side. We look forward to seeing you on the otherside of this album release as we tour the album in South Africa and throughout Europe in October/November.
