Lizo Gqoboka Foundation Golf Day

About

The Lizo Gqoboka foundation intends to bring together various stakeholders for a Golf day on the 24th September 2022, by putting vulnerable youth at the focal point of our work and questioning how we can better develop our society by having an impact on these potential leaders through sport and education.

Our foundation is a social enterprise that is committed to using sports and education to improve the lives of vulnerable youth. Through initiatives like the scholarship program and the yearly sporting event held in the Eastern Cape, access is being expanded to both education and sports. To benefit the vulnerable youth, the foundation presently collaborates with sponsors like Vodacom and Puma, schools, and other private organizations.

Our non-profit organization, The Lizo Gqoboka Foundation NPC (Reg 2019/462532/08), is responsible for distributing our programs to disadvantaged youth. Our most recent initiative, the scholarship project, aims to support the needy youth who would otherwise be unable to afford an education.

One youth at a time, we are starting the enormous process of changing the narrative of the vulnerable groups. In these difficult times, when parliament is aware of the problems of poverty and unemployment as well as the misery of underprivileged students at institutions of higher learning, we think that education is the path to a better future. Concern should be raised regarding the widespread practice of universities refusing to provide degrees to graduates from low-income households, even if they overcame all barriers to complete their three or four-year courses. It is disappointing to witness the inequity of seeing graduates return home the same day without their certificates but only with empty envelopes. Our goal is to change one Youth at a time so that they leave the graduation day with a certificate in their envelopes. We think that taking small, consistent steps today will have a greater impact tomorrow.

The Lizo Gqoboka foundation is already implementing this program with a total of four students already having benefitted and graduated in the past 5years. Some of the students are currently employed.

We would like you to help us make a difference by partnering with us and allowing us in keeping dreams alive.
