ABOUT

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is a farcical black comedy by American playwright Joseph Kesselring, written in 1939.

The play revolves around the Brewster family who descended from the Mayflower settlers. The family is now mainly composed of homicidal maniacs. The hero, Mortimer Brewster, is a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, murderous family and the inept Brooklyn police force.

The incompetent drunken criminal plastic surgeon Dr. Schneider, is loosely based on Joseph Moran the criminal underworld plastic surgeon of the mid 1930’s

Arsenic and Old Lace has lost none of its appeal and the BATS team hope that local audiences will enjoy the play as much as they have enjoyed bringing it to life.
