Every year on June 16th, South Africans celebrate Youth Day; a day where we remember the atrocities of the past as we make every effort to look forward to a hope for a brighter future. As a nation, we celebrate the militant role that young people played in the end of Apartheid, and we do everything in our power to cultivate excitement from the youth of today for a future South Africa that seems further and further away with every Youth Day that passes.
As the Church, youth ministries all over the country embrace this day as an opportunity to encourage young people to be bold and confident in their pursuit of God; that only when young people focus on Jesus as the hope for the future, then only do we stand a chance to change the world. RISE Conference was birthed out of that truth, that Jesus and Jesus alone is the hope for the future.
