IBHUNGA, The Council
IBHUNGA (the Council) is an emerging contemporary ethno-afro jazz band, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Convened and conceptualized by Eastern Cape born trombonist, composer, and arranger, Athamacwera Ngcaba, the project explores the convergence of tradition, cultural preservation; identity and other related concepts from the perspective of young musicians navigating the intersection between heritage, city life and modernism.

Nyauist (AstroSonic Trails)
Kapula aka Nyauist; currently based between Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. His practice involves social experimentation and archiving in the form of installations, objects, visuals, live performances and sound art.
He seeks to explore ideas that connect people, interviewing the relationship between art, music and resistance. His techniques are bountiful and his sonic excursions include the Post Chimurenga Postures, Somsocosmo, My Favourite Sounds - September Jive, Pungwe Nights, Gule Project an ongoing research focused Dance and the transformative power of the Mask.
Ra Mava (AstroSonic Trails)
Born in Umthatha, South Africa. Deejay and Percussionist Ra Mava pays homage to his mother and siblings for his early love for music. His diverse music selection and percussive mastery allow for an ever enticing blend of music fusing genres from West African rhythms, Hip-Hop, Marabi Jazz to Kwaito and house. Ra Mava is also a contributor to Mthwakazi's Xhopera adding is flavor through his percussive sounds.
As a household Cape Town brand Ra Mava holds residencies in and around city and is co-founder of the AstroSonic Trails Vinyl Collective.
