With the world in turmoil, the political importance of Orthodox Christianity is paramount. The only Russian Orthodox congregation in Sub-Saharan Africa, the majestic St. Sergius Russian Orthodox Church in Midrand is an international jewel in our midst.
The glimmering white and gold architectural beauty is packed with Russian art and the gorgeous garden is filled with trees straight from the Motherland with a memorial to Russian soldiers fighting in the Anglo-Boer War.
Archpriest Daniil Lugovoy from Moscow will take us on a personal tour in his church. Followed by a soulful concert by Pangea, a top string quartet from Johannesburg, who will play two major works along with some contemporary tunes. www.pangeastringquartet.co.za
