ABOUT
Mgwali- is a river that flows through a small village Engcobo, serving as the last landmark before reaching the homeland of these two emerging artists.
This river connects to Umbashe, a larger river that runs through their village Entseleni.
They encountered each other in East London without realizing they come from the same ancestral land. Through this showcase, Xhanti and Ne-ahtYah intend to ponder on their journey until now.
Pausing to reflect on their path as creators and individuals in pursuit of freedom and truth.
The joint exhibition will showcase performances by Neahtyah, an African Jazz singer and songwriter, who will present music from her upcoming album "Emandulo." Neahtyah is a passionate advocate for sustainability and community, using her music to evoke the values of ancient Africa.
Additionally, the collaborative showcase will also feature a solo acoustic performance by Xhanti Nokwali, a singer-songwriter who will introduce new concepts discovered through exploring indigenous instruments. Xhanti will also perform songs from his debut album "Umthombo."
