ABOUT

The annual Nelson Mandela University Steelpannival will be held at the NMU's South Campus Auditorium this year. This year the concert is in memory of the late Professor Andrew Tracey who was the first person to bring steelpans in South Africa.

The evening concert will feature some of the finest steel bands in South Africa and will take place on August 7th, 18h00 showcasing performances by several school steel bands such as:


  1. Queens College Jnr (led by Rowan Knight)
  2. Clarendon High (led by Angela Kobus)
  3. Westering High (led by Bevan Maschaka)
  4. Kingsridge High (led by Sandy Jones)
  5. Lawson Brown High (led by Jade Jack)
  6. Graeme College High (led by Sylvester Appollis)
  7. Normoyle Primary (led by Jade Jack)
  8. Victoria Park High (led by Wendy Gilbert)
  9. Pantastix (let by Siya Xotyeni)
  10. Steelos (let by Siya Xotyeni)
  11. Pantastix Prodigies (let by Candice Parkin)
  12. Nelson Mandela University (let by Siya Xotyeni)

The event promises to be an exciting showcase of the unique sound and culture of steelpan music in South Africa, and is sure to be a memorable experience for all who attend. Show your support and join us on another night filled with joy, passion and talent.
