CTL Free Movie Night - TAC: Taking HAART
Thu May 9, 18:00 - Thu May 9, 21:00
Woodstock Brewery
ABOUT
We'll be screening the documentary "TAC – Taking HAART", which chronicles the fight to ensure that every person living with HIV has access to quality comprehensive prevention and treatment services to live a healthy life. It tells the story of how a queer-led movement managed to unite people across race and class through one of the most extraordinary struggles in post-apartheid South Africa.
We'll also have a special guest appearance and a brief talk by Zackie Achmat, human rights activist and co-founder of the Treatment Action Campaign.
Food and drinks will be for sale at Woodstock Brewery, where the movie night is hosted. If you'd like to join us for dinner, try to get there by 6pm. Movie will start around 7pm.
It is a safe space to attend by yourself, even if you don’t know anyone. And a great place to meet new people.
This event is organized by Cape Town Lesbians, but welcomes all LGBTIQA+ folk and is open to everyone.
Note: We use the term "Lesbian" as an inclusive umbrella term. It is a label that helps you find a community, not a prescription of who is allowed in this space. This group welcomes and celebrates all sapphics, women who love women (including bisexuals and pansexuals), and all trans and gender non-binary folk.
