ABOUT

Welcome to RopeyThings 201!

This is an intermediate workshop in which you will exposed to additional knots and styles to include with the single and double column tie you learnt in RopeyThings 101. While a refresher on both of these ties and safety will be done to make sure everyone is on the same page, the focus will be on non-restrictive upper torso harnesses. In shibari, a chest harness can stand alone or act as a base to secure other ties.

Essential to these ties will be some new knots to your Shibari arsenal such as Crossing Hitch (Munter Hitch) and Cows Hitch. We will be doing a simple Bikini Harness to get the flow going, followed by the Hishi Karada (‘Rope Dress’). This is a chest harness that extends down the torso with the classic and instantly recognizable Shibari Diamond pattern.

From here we will lead into the fun element of this class, with a special Christmas themed Rope Jam, so you can experiment with your new knots with different colours of rope, twirl some fairy lights around a torso, even make a tinsel halo adorn the object of your ropey affection . Bare in mind though that this is still a learning space not a sensual or erotic space.....

This event will be held in a private home so please respect and treat the space as you would your own. Address will be sent on the day of the event.

What to bring:

  • Rope, if you have
  • Safety shears
  • Snacks to share
  • Aftercare treats for your bottom
  • Dress comfortably
  • Something warm to wear afterwards as this is a late afternoon class and it can get nippy afterwards
  • Some Christmas decorations (tinsel, fairylights, bubbles)

Code of conduct:

  1. CONSENT - ask before touching, ask where rope can and can't be laid, where hands can and can't be placed. Communicate consent verbally in the space.
  2. SAFETY - communicate before, during and after tying, ask about each other's current physical/mental/emotional state. Discuss tying within your risk profile. At all times work within the guidelines of SSC/RACK/PRICK.
  3. COMMUNICATION - between tops and bottoms, but also with the event organiser. If anything non-consensual or unsafe occurs, let us know and we will act.
  4. ANONYMITY - some peeps don't want to be photographed/recorded. Obtain express consent (noting people that may be in the background) beforehand. Respect this and delete pics if asked. Don't out people who attend RopeyThings events - if you see someone you know, and they want to be anonymous in the space, respect each other and be discreet.
  5. KEEP IT PG13 - please don't treat this class as foreplay. It is an intimate art form, but this is not a sexual space. That being said - free the nip but keep the crotch area covered.
  6. SUBSTANCES - NO drugs permitted, as it puts the user, everyone attending as well as the organisers at risk of prosecution.
  7. ROAR - Right of admission reserved.
