Lion King with Us

“HAKUNA MATATA” How many times did we grow up hearing this?

We all grew up watching The Lion King and memorizing the amazing songs in the soundtrack! The funny guys Pumba and Timon, the all majestic and strong Mufasa and ofcourse the star of it all Simba!

Some of us cried, some of us laughed. For some it was the first time we watched a movie at the cinema with hot dogs and popcorns right? Memorable! Now that we are all grown up, we want to give this experience to those who've come after us.

We Are One Kenya is raising funds to send 200 primary school students to see the much anticipated remake of ‘The Lion King’ this 24^th of August 2019. We would love your help in making this dream for these kids a reality!

A little bit of background to these kids:

They go to school at Pearl Academy located in Kangemi area in Westlands in Nairobi, Kenya.

For those who don’t know Kangemi, it is a suburban location with a dense slum population and housing many people living and working in Nairobi, including these kids’ families. We would be taking children from class four to six because we feel that at this age they would really enjoy, and relate with the experience.

Most of these kids either cant afford this luxury or have aprents who work really hard to make ends meet including take them to school and who are unable to find the time to expose their kids to a simple Cinema experience.

So in order for us to do this, we need your help. We are targeting 200 students, both boys and girls. Our good friends at the Cinemas have agreed to offer us a package worth 5 USD per head which will include a movie ticket, popcorns and a drink. In addition to this, we will be arranging a transport shuttle for these kids from school to the Cinemas and back, while we have estimated 2USd per child to cater for transport to and from school to the Cinema.

In total, we've estimated the cost will be a minimum of 7 USD per child to take care of all costs. This would cater for the movie ticket, transport to and from school, snacks and a beverage. We are also hoping to throw in some memorable t-shirt merchandise for the kids should the funds raised allow us to do so.

For all who donate to this cause, we shall be providing a full brief of how the experience was, videos and complete and transparent breakdown of how the funds were utilised towards making this an awesome day for the 200 Kids at Pearl Academy!
