Some info on the artist:

For four years they reigned supreme, South Africa’s leading International Pop Band, ‘CLOUT’! At the helm, a formidable force, a formidable voice, Cindy Alter, selling over 12 million albums and charting at Number 1 around the world, including an awesome UK No. 2. ‘Clout’ did the European circuit with the The Police, Debbie Harry, Supertramp, Dire Straights, The Village People, Boney M, Gloria Gaynor, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, Blondie, The Buggles, Amanda Lear, Grace Jones and all the top bands of the time.

When ‘Clout’ disbanded, Cindy started ‘The Cindy Alter Band’ which eventually became ‘Zia’, an African Rock band, hot on the heels of local bands like Juluka, Mango Groove and Hotline, making waves while the apartheid era began to crumble. Zia released 4 albums and toured France, opening for Mahlahtini and the Mahotela Queens and The Bee Gees.

Cindy then moved to Los Angeles, renewing the Cindy Alter Band with American musicians, following that with solo acoustic shows, always pursuing her passion for songwriting. She wrote, recorded and produced 2 solo CD’s, and hosted songwriter showcases all over Los Angeles, booking other writers, and performing with many highly acclaimed artists, like, Kenny Loggins, Jim Messina, Clint Black, Sophie B. Hawkins, Olivia Newton John and Glen Phillips, to name a few.

In 2002 Cindy was diagnosed with Acute Mylogenous Leukaemia, and underwent a Stem-Cell Bone-Marrow Transplant. She decided to go back to her home, South Africa, to continue her healing process, and doing a ‘Clout’ reunion tour, then joined forces with Stewart Irving, ex-Ballyhoo frontman, forming ‘Alter Irving, an acoustic duo, which morphed into a country band.

In 2015 Cindy started her solo career by publishing her autobiography, ‘No Substitute’, releasing her 3rd solo album, ‘Faith & Fire’. In 2016 she recorded a new EP in Nashville called, “Reunion”, which is available on iTunes . Cindy continues to tour nationally and internationally, performing and doing motivational talks. She has just released a new single, ‘Hole in a Ring’, written by acclaimed Nashville songwriter, Wayne Carson & Cofield Mundy.

Her story is fascinating, her life, an incredible journey, her motivation is her passion for music and her determination to continue to Thrive, against all odds.
